First we'd brainstorm the visuals, emotions or ideas you want to convey. Then we'd look specifically at size and colors that would go best with the painting's destination. Of course, the bigger the painting, the longer I'd need. For example, I imagine I could finish a 10 inch by 10 inch ($100) canvas in a week. I would want more time so there's a longer gestation period to live with the image.
